Ballads For Melancholy Robots

Olga Kivius This Austrian jazz quartet surprised me a lot. They are extraordinary and innovative.
This album is very complicated. The influences of avant-prog, prog-rock, industrial & cinematic dark ambient are not so important, than the amasing way of using sounds & rhythms, the way of connecting musical phrases into the pieces and the pieces into the whole album. Every sound becomes important here.
For sure, this is a breath-taking futuristic story of the life of Melancholy Robots from another planet!

about

Kompost 3 Wien, Austria

But look deeper, that's where the action is. The closer you get to the center the more it heats
up. Reactions are taking place, unknown quantities brewing. Musical ideas are broken
down to their constituent atoms then fused together again in seemingly random
combinations - but there's method to this madness; the creatures emerging from this
primordial ooze are walking, talking, preaching.
